Of Food For Thought

I happened to chance about either Elvin Ng’s or Nat Ho’s blog:

Accomodate

One of the advantages of going out alone is that you do not have to accomodate others. You do not have to smile, you do not have to make small talk, you do not have to spare a thought for others. And that was what I experienced when I went to the movies myself, went to the night market myself, went to the pub to listen to the live band myself, went to eat chicken rice balls myself. All the time for yourself. All focus on yourself. Finding yourself. Almost an indulgence. It was a good feeling. Did it once. Did it again. Will continue to do so from time to time.

Why? Because sometimes you are so tired of smiling and trying to be nice to others when others do not try to smile or be nice to you. Not a saint but you know you have tried to be good to others but others do not seem to try to be good to you; in fact, they begin to think you are a pushover. When every good seems to be forgotten and each bad remembered. When a sheet of white paper with a black dot is noticed only for its black dot. When whatever credit you thought you might have built up counts for nothing really.

I really don’t want to be calculative. But I really don’t want to be too accommodating either. How many can you accomodate in your life? How many would you like to accomodate in your life? Seriously, people who matter. I don’t want to be too accommodating. I’ll keep this at the back of my head. And continue to be the same, the way I deem right.

Good guys finish last.

But that’s because they last the longer distance.

Do we want to be the good guy or the bad guy?

Interesting…

It seems to be easier to be brutally honest when it’s someone else’s words, no?

xoxo,

Sean.

Of Starbucks Sunday

I’m listening to:

OneRepublic – All The Right Moves.

Maybe it’s the post-holiday syndrome or maybe it’s the sheer number of pictures to upload and post. I WILL update about Beijing soon.

Anyway, to ‘tide’ you over, here’s a big-ass picture in full winter gear.

a) But in the meantime, more from The Wallaby Journals:

Day 10 – 29 Oct 2009

I’m pretty miserable now, my back hurts, I can hardly take a breath without coughing, it is ridiculously insanely hot and as luck would have it, the internet is down. But on a brighter note, its good to know that my foot did NOT rot. ( A personal victory – albeit an extremely pathetic and minute one, but still…)

In other news: I realised -

a) I don’t know how to react to rowdiness, I would either walk away rolling my eyes, laugh awkwardly or sit on the sidelines uninvolved.

b) I’m really not the typical 20 year old Singaporean male ( Yes, this is probably old news ), I have no interest in sports, gaming,  don’t trawl through FHM/Maxim/New Man, don’t think much about doing the whole pub scene – of course some friends dispute this…It’s probably true that I’m weird, but I’m ok with that, I never really fit in or wanted to be part of any pack anyway.

c) How people conduct themselves matters alot to me, in every situation. I believe it shows so much – it reveals one’s values, principles, beliefs, character, upbringing. Now, more than ever, it seems increasingly imperative that we be our own individual – be they financially, physically, emotionally or mentally.

b) A blast from the past. OMG. have those who havent already seen it on FB.

And I though it would have been burnt away forever ever. Apparently never never.

Read: Retro-Mania.

c) The coolest thing about technology and communication – cross border communication. Video conferencing is surprisingly fun!

Home in Simei, Hotel in Beijing. Of course, now the roles are reversed and I’m jealous beyond words…hope you’re having a blast girl!

d) The total damge done from shopping this trip….$1013.50. On shopping alone. OMG, someone say SHOPAHOLIC.

xoxo,

Sean.

Of Facebook

I freaking took half an hour to figure out how to upload pictures onto facebook without creating an album. This is apparently an impossible feat. Nothing is working out.

Sometimes, I don’t know why I even bother or try – guess we aren’t talking about Facebook anymore…

Of Gossip Girl – and all her bitchy wisdom.

I’m listening to:

Anya Marina – Whatever You Like

A deserving kinky video for such a kinky song.

Ever relevant and true , from this week’s GG

‘ Sometimes, its after the curtains close that the real reckonings come ( of which we have to deal with ), whether its about who we wish we were, who we wished we could be or who we want.’

Someone tell me why I’m such a tween.

Sean.

Of Last Minute Reflections & Ramblings

I’m listening to:

Glee – No Air (I swear I’m not a gleek.!)

So,

I managed to grab the first few leaks of pictures from wallaby. – From facebook, thank you people who shall not be named.

1) SWTBA – Deceptively beautiful

2) Home. Our truly humble abode.

3) The god-damn dust.

4) One of the hallmarks of Polygon – the plastic cutlery and styrofoam cup…

5) The horrible truly fierce huge ants.

6) We, the modern day Israelites, roaming in the wilderness…

The Pre-Holidaying Fiasco (ES)…

- Battle Plans

- The family high tops! Somehow I feel that my shoes are a little inadequate though. So unfair!

- Somehow, packing can make the room even more messy.

- The Beijing Winter-Fight-the-cold Gear Plus my trusty coat of course.

- The Hong Kong Fall-Dress-up Gear

- The End State.

The Forecast.

Beijing

Hong Kong

Honestly, I’m really looking forward to the holiday! Super-duper excited. But  please pretty please  god, no snow storm please! And lots of good shopping in Hong Kong too!

Will update from wherever.

Have lots to think about on this trip too.

Lots of love,

xoxo,

Sean.

Of One Day Before Beijing.

I’m Listening to:

High and Mighty Color – Amazing (Yes, I know JPop isn’t exactly my thing, BUT, blame Yap Zhi Ming. And his itouch!)

Ladytron – Destroy Everything You Touch

Silversun Pickups – Lazy Eye ( So, so, so good. )

Supper.Super. Sinful.

Just saying.

” So you realise that no matter how to try to numb yourself, whether it be through work, being busy, clubbing, alcohol, travelling, gaming, sex, crying, sports or whatever, that at the end of the day, you cannot run away from yourself. Or how you feel. It especially sucks when you feel so alone sometimes – its worse if you feel so rejected .” I guess we humans really do need our love tanks topped up.

Just Saying.

The carnage from packing.

Ironically, holidaying is SUCH a stressful affair.

Just saying.

Sean.

Of  BBBRRRR….

I’m listening to:

Taylor Swift – Cold As You

I love the cold, but packing for winter is utterly infuriating. Worrying about surviving the sub-zeros isn’t helping either.

And what’s this with the articles about stuffing cotton wool into shoes for extra warmth?!? WTF.

I’m going to look for Bryanboy for better winter fashion help.

Maybe staying in the tropics is better. NAH.

xoxo,

Sean.
